Proteus

Designed by: Justin

"The robot is modular thanks to the choice of 2 cabins and a multitude of modules. Each module has oxygen and hydrogen reserves that can be sent to the head module to make electricity in a hydrogen fuel cell. Each wheel has its own motor, can rotate 60 degrees and will use NASA's new shape memory alloy tires to help navigate the terrain.

Each module is interchangeable and allows the robot to be useful in most situations as it can carry ice, fuel, astronauts, scientific equipment or anything else that may be needed on the moon. If necessary it is possible to add a cabin on the head module to send a mission with astronauts, to do this simply remove the antenna and solar panels then drop and attach the cabin on top and reinstall the antennas and solar panels.

Despite its size the robot will be able to be driven easily on the moon as the on-board computer can independently steer each of the wheels and can pilot it in autopilot mode for a routine mission for example."
